Jim Young calls for Eisman's inclusion in debates

[An email to the board of "We the People" (the latest of many); used by permission]

Hi folks,

It's been a long time since I've been in contact with many of you and this is a new contact for some of you. I'm writing a short note here to encourage you to make a last minute change in your "We The People" gubernatorial debate format for this Friday and please include Nelson Eisman, the Green Party candidate. You will definitely have a better program with Nelson, than without him. (The last debate was a poor performance by the two main party candidates.)

As most of you probably know, your decision to exclude Nelson from the debates has been a very controversial topic in the public discussions throughout the State and is further evidence of the erosion of the media's role in supporting a democracy within our state and country. We as citizens of Wisconsin deserve better coverage of the gubernatorial candidates' positions in general by the media and "We The People" has an excellent opportunity to act on the people's behalf by including Nelson.

It's not too late for you to make this change. When I ran in 2002, you included Ed Thompson and I in a very well received debate by the voting public. Yes, Rep. Green and Gov. Doyle don't want the people of Wisconsin to know that there is an alternative to them again this year, but your media organizations hold the power in our "democracy" in this particular case.

For democracy's sake - Please include Nelson Eisman in your debates Friday night!

Thank you for this consideration,

Jim Young
2002 Wisconsin Green Party Candidate for Governor
